Job Summary

The Senior SAP Business Application Consultant ensures the stable, effective, and continuously improved operation of SAP solutions for Production Planning, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and logistics. The role leads the analysis and optimisation of end-to-end planning and execution processes, translates complex business requirements into sustainable SAP solutions, and provides functional leadership across operations, changes, projects, deployments, and support. She/he acts as a trusted internal advisor to production, supply chain, procurement, warehouse, and related stakeholders; guides key users and junior colleagues; coordinates external service providers; and ensures robust integration, data quality, documentation, testing, knowledge transfer, and compliance with established governance.

Core Areas of Responsibility

• Own the functional design, stability, and continuous improvement of SAP Production Planning, MRP, and logistics processes, including their integration with procurement, inventory management, warehouse operations, sales, quality, maintenance, finance, and controlling.
• Design and optimize demand management, planned independent requirements, make-to-stock and make-to-order scenarios, production versions, bills of material, routings, work centers, capacities, and production-order processes.
• Lead MRP design and operations, including planning parameters, lot-sizing procedures, safety-stock concepts, planning calendars, procurement proposals, exception messages, planning runs, and resolution of material shortages.
• Support and improve production execution from order creation and release through material staging, confirmations, goods movements, technically complete status, settlement readiness, and closing activities.
• Optimize logistics processes for material movements, stock transfers, replenishment, inventory visibility, warehouse interfaces, and coordination of inbound, internal, and outbound material flows.
• Ensure the quality and governance of planning-relevant master data, including material masters, MRP parameters, bills of material, routings, work centers, production versions, source-of-supply settings, and related organizational data.
• Analyze complex incidents, planning exceptions, capacity constraints, stock inconsistencies, interface failures, and recurring process issues; identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective and preventive solutions.
• Advise business process owners, planners, production teams, logistics functions, and key users on standard SAP capabilities, process harmonization, solution options, risks, dependencies, controls, and implementation priorities.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications, configuration, integration designs, test scenarios, data requirements, cutover activities, training materials, and support documentation.
• Lead functional workstreams for enhancements, rollouts, migrations, and releases, including scope clarification, effort estimation, testing, deployment, hyper care, handover, and coordination with technical teams and external providers.
• Build internal capability by coaching key users and junior consultants, conducting knowledge-transfer sessions, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and communicating status, risks, and decisions clearly to stakeholders.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as an SAP functional consultant or internal SAP Business Application Consultant, including substantial hands-on experience in Production Planning, MRP, and logistics.
• Proven experience configuring and supporting demand management, material requirements planning, bills of material, routings, work centers, production versions, capacity planning, production orders, goods movements, inventory processes, and cross-functional integrations.
• Proven experience leading complex incident resolution, process optimization, functional design, testing, deployment, data migration or conversion activities, and cross-functional improvement initiatives in manufacturing environments.
• Experience advising planners, production and logistics stakeholders, coordinating external service providers, and coaching key users or less-experienced colleagues.

Educational / Addition Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent higher education in business administration, business informatics, industrial engineering, supply chain management, information technology, or a related discipline. 
• Advanced functional knowledge of SAP Production Planning and integrated logistics, including MRP, production master data, production execution, inventory management, and interfaces with procurement, warehouse management, sales, quality, maintenance, finance, and controlling.
• Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA manufacturing and planning capabilities is preferred; relevant SAP certification is an advantage.
• Strong command of English; additional languages relevant to the organization are an advantage.
